Pandu Pokhar is believed to be associated with the Mahabharata era. It is said that King Pandu, the father of the Pandavas, used this place to camp with his army, making it a historical pond. Over time, the water filled up here and the place took the form of a pond. Today, the place has turned into a beautiful amusement park and entertainment spot, where boating, horse riding and many other adventure activities are available, which maintains its historical significance along with the entertainment of the tourists.

Pandu Pokhar History

The history of Rajgir is as old as the Mahabharata period. Along with this Jainism and Buddhism also started here. As the name Pandu Pokhar suggests, this pond is associated with the Pandus of Mahabharata. Pandu was the name of the father of the Pandavas.


It is believed that when King Pandu attacked Rajgriha, this place started making pits with the hooves of horses. In such a situation, the rainwater kept accumulating here continuously. And took the form of a pond. Which is known today as Pandu Pokhara.
